Wild AnimalsLarge area of protection forests, natural forests and preservation forests are conserved in the Experimental Forest, providing ideal habitats for wild animals. At present there are many species of wild animals found, in which more than 108 bird species reside or pass through the Experimental Forest, and some famous birds such as Swinhoe’s blue pheasant (Lophura swinhoii), Mikado pheasant (Syrmaticus mikado), Formosan yuhina (Yuhina brunneiceps) etc., and mammals as Formosan serow (Capricornis crispus swinhoei), Formosan Reeve’s muntjac (Muntiacus reevesi micrurus), large red flying squirrel (Petaurista petaurista grandis) and Formosan rock-monkey (Macaca cyclopis) etc. are all found in the Experimental Forest.
